The VN Index (VNINDEX), the benchmark measure of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, rose 0.5 percent to 449.54.
Cotec Construction Joint-Stock Co. (CTD) , a builder of roads and housing, climbed 2.4 percent to 38,500 dong, heading for the biggest advance since March 19. The company will pay a dividend of 2,000 dong a share on May 16, it said in a statement on the exchange’s website.
Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint-Stock Co. (PNJ) , Vietnam’s only listed jewelry manufacturer, gained 1.5 percent to 39,600 dong, poised for the highest close since March 15. Spot gold advanced as much as 0.8 percent to $1,648.80 an ounce, the highest since April 3.
