Q1/2012: SSI Tops Brokers on HOSE, HSC Leads on HNX

This is the sixth consecutive quarter the broker house has maintained its No 1 position in the list, the HOSE’s data showed, however, its market share in the past quarter was lower than its 12.25% in Q4/2011.

Ho Chi Minh City Securities (HSC) remained the second biggest broker with 11% of the market share on the bourse in Jan-March  higher than its 8.5% market shares in Q4/2011.

Change was seen in the third position as ACB Securities JSC (ACBS) moved 1 step forward and gained third place in the top list with 10.36% market share, higher than its 5.93% market share in Q4/2011.

These top 3 companies all have market share of higher than 10%, much higher than their followers and rather high in the context that Vietnam has over 100 securities companies.

Kim Eng Vietnam Securi- ties (KEVS), VietCapital Securities were two other names in the top 5 with 5.11% and 4.46% market shares, respectively.

Other companies in the top 10 list were Viet Dragon Securities (VDSC) with 4.24%; Thang Long Securities (TLS) with 4.16%; SacombankSecurities (SBS) with 3.69%; VietcomBank Securities (VCBS) with 3.51% and VNDirect Securities (VND) with 3.13%.

Top ten brokers on the HOSE accounted for a total of 61.4% market share in the first quarter.

These ten brokers on the HOSE accounted for 61.4% brokerage services in the first quarter versus  and the corresponding figure of 55.55% in Q4/2011 and 51.59% in Q1/2011.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange,  HSC upheld its biggest broker position after providing 7.82% brokerage services on the bourse, higher than its 7.29% in Q4/2011.

VNDirect Securities notched up 1 rank to be the second biggest broker on the bourse with 5.76% market share, also higher than its 5.42% market share in Q4/2011.

VietinBankSecurities (VietinBankSc) stepped down in rank to be the third biggest broker on the bourse with 5.66% market shares in Q4/2012, falling from 6.079% in Q4/2011.

VPBank Securities made biggest positive movement, jumping up 5 steps to be the fourth biggest broker with 5.63% market share in Q1/2012; up from 3.99% in Q4/2011.

KimEng Securities stepped down to be 5^th biggest broker with 4.98% market shares in Q1/2012 versus  5.38% market share in Q4/2011.

Other 5 brokers in the top 10 list were in turn: ACBS (4.87%), TLS (4.35%), SSI (4.25%), GBS (3.8%) và FPTS (3.77%). ACBS and FPTS were the two brokers with no change in their position on this bourse in Q1/2012.

SSI made a comeback in the list of top 10 broker in Q1/2012 after its disappearance as top brokers on the HNX in Q4/2011. And the return of SSI means the disappearance of HBS in the list.

Top ten brokers provided a combine market share of 50.9% in Q1/2012 versus 51.123% in Q4/2011.
