Macro economy

• FDI Hits Nearly $11.3Bln in 10 Months
  FDI in Vietnam is estimated to have reached nearly $11.3 billion as of October 20, equal to 78 per cent of that in the same period last year.

• Vietnam October Monthly Trade Deficit Narrows to $800 Million
  Vietnam’s trade deficit narrowed in October from September, which may ease pressure on a currency that declined last week to the weakest level since at least 1993.

• Corporations under MOIT Requested to Report Performance Monthly: New Circular
  Effective from December 1, 2011, requesting all shareholding companies and over 50% state-owned enterprises under MOIT to prepare periodical statistical reports.

• Vietnam Not Yet Be Able to Cut Petrol Prices: MOF
  The Ministry of Finance (MOF) issued an official letter No. 14315/BTC-VP on October 25 saying that the retail petrol prices cannot be cut now as imported prices, based on fuel oil pricing in Singapore, are higher than the domestic market prices.

• Vietnam Establishes the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council
  Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed a decision to establish the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council, the local online newspaper DVT.vn reported.

• Vietnam Finance Minister Says Public Debts within Safety Zone
  Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that Vietnam’s current public debts still stayed within the safety zone.

• Vietnam Central Bank Reinforces Administrative Measures in Decree No.95
  The State Bank of Vietnam, the country’s central bank, sent official dispatches, requesting credit institutions to strictly implement Decree No. 95 on gold and foreign exchange trading and asked support from four related Ministries on Oct 25.

• SBV Vows Not To Let Any Banks Out Of Control
  Weak commercial banks’ problems have become more serious, especially the problem in liquidity. However, the State Bank of Vietnam has affirmed that it will not let any commercial banks collapse.

  HAGL Joint-Stock Co., Vietnam’s second-biggest listed real estate company by market value, tumbled to the lowest level since June 2009 in Ho Chi Minh City trading after posting net profit tumbled in the third-quarter.
