The benchmark VN Index lost 1.92 points, or 0.46% to end at 408.6. Volume fell 14.8% to 29.8 million shares worth VND557.7 billion including 8 million shares worth VND251 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
VN Index opened in the red with nearly 0.8 million shares traded as investors stayed cautious. Both buyers and sellers were cautious and without support from heavy weighs, the market was in the negative territory for the whole session. Though late buying into some blue chips pared some losses, market sentiment was still bearish.
Market breadth was negative, among 305 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 121-89 and 75 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 37 stocks fell to the floor while 21 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 7 fell (BVH, CTG, HAG, VPL, STB, MSN, VCB) , and 3 unchanged (STB, VIC, VNM).
Bank shares continued to show weaknesses while property had some improvement but not significant when some of them like DIG, DXG, SJS eked out gains today.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) was the most active stock with 1.1 million shares traded, closing down 2.4% to VND12,000.
Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was in the second place with nearly 1 million shares traded, closing down 2.1% to VND9,200.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) ranked third with 1 million shares traded, closing flat at VND8,700.
Hoa Phat Group JSC. (HPG) stayed in the fourth place with 0.8 million shares traded, closing down 3% to VND22,600.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was the last in the most active list with 0.8 million shares traded, closing up 1.2% to VND17,400.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX bucked trend, rebounding from all time low with a gain of 0.11 point or 0.17% to 65.13. Trading volume fell 10.3% to 24.6 million shares traded for VND262.7 billion of which 2.7 million shares worth VND51.1 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was negative with 87 gainers, 112 losers and 91 flat issues and 103 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 2 gained, 6 lost and 2 unchanged.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 2.8 million shares traded, closing flat at VND10,200 on average.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) came second with 1.8 million shares traded, closing flat at VND10,200 on average.
PetroVietnam Power Land Joint Stock Company ranked third in the list with 1.6 million shares traded, closing down 1% to VND10,300 on average.
