The benchmark VN Index closed up 2.13 points, or 0.52% to end at 410.57. Volume rose 22.53% to 34 million shares worth VND650.1 billion including 12.5 million shares worth VND341.8 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
Of note, put-through trading was active again with a jumbo deal of 6.9 million shares traded at VND13,000/share, higher than the market close of VND12,900.
For the week, VN Index lost 11.5 points or 2.72%, extending YTD loss to 74.09 points or 15.29%.
For the day, VN Index opened in the green with 0.8 million shares traded, indicating caution in place. Both buyers and sellers were cautious amid lack of market driving news. Blue chips buoyed the index but the board market was weak. VN Index pared some gain at the close.
Market breadth was negative, among 305 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 129-83 and 70 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 33 stocks fell to the floor while 14 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 4 gained (VNM, VPL,MSN, BVH) , 3 lost (HAG, VCB, CTG) and 3 unchanged (STB, EIB, VIC).
Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was the most active stock with 1.7 million shares traded, closing down 1% to VND9,700.
Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) was in the second place with 1.4 million shares traded, closing down 2.5% to VND11,500.
Post and Telecommunication Investment and Construction JSC. (PTC) ranked third with 1.3 million shares traded, closing down 1.6% to VND12,400.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) stayed in the fourth place with 1 million shares traded, closing down 1.1% to VND9,000.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was the last in the most active list with 0.8 million shares traded, closing down 0.6% to VND17,400.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX bucked trend to close down for a second day, losing 0.46 point or 0.69% to 65.97.Trading volume fell 3.6% to 26.4 million shares traded for VND271.2 billion of which 2.3 million shares worth VND27.8 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
For the week, HNX Index lost 3.97 points or 5.68%, extending YTD loss to 48.27 points or 42.25%.

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 3 million shares traded, closing down 1% to VND10,400 on average.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) came second with 2.6 million shares traded, closing down 1.9% to VND10,500 on average.
