The benchmark VN Index lost 3.02 points, or 0.77% to end at 390.89. Volume fell 10.6% to 33.2 million shares worth VND711.8 billion including 7.2 million shares worth VND320.69 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
VN Index opened in the green with 1 million shares traded, trading was more active as buyers accepted to pay a bit premium, some even aggressive to send share prices to the ceiling. Gain was steady during the day and market closed high.
Market breadth turned positive, among 305 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 159-75 and 48 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 55 stocks hit ceiling while 31 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 8 rose (STB, HAG, VCB, BVH, VPL, CTG, EIB, VIC,) and 1 fell (MSN) 1 unchanged (VNM).
Market spot lights today were outperformance of property shares, DXG, DIC, DIG, HAG, ITA, ITC, KBC, PTL, SJS were also gainers, some hit the ceiling.
Bank shares were also strong, MBB, EIB, CTG, STB, VCB were all gainers.
Securities stocks were also supporter of the market, SSI, SBS were among advancers.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX extended gain today, adding 1.08 points or 1.71% to 64.14. Trading volume rose 8.2% to 33.2 million shares traded for VND323.6 billion of which 3.7 million shares worth VND55.45 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth turned positive with 165 gainers, 71 losers and 49 flat issues and 108 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 9 gained and 1 unchanged.
High liquid and speculative shares KLS, VND, PVX, VCG were all gainers.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active stock with 4.4 million shares changed hands, closing up 4.2% to VND10,000.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) came second with 3.8 million shares traded, closing up 3% to VND10,100 on average.
PetroVietnam Power Land Joint Stock Company ranked third in the list with 2.5 million shares traded, closing up 3.2% to VND9,700 on average.
