The benchmark VN Index lost 6.99 points, or 1.66% to end at 413.82. Volume rose 18.5% to 44.9 million shares worth VND721.6 billion including 17.7 million shares worth VND332.21 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
Put-through deals were active again with a jumbo size deal of 12.5 million STB shares changed hands at the ceiling price of VND14,000 despite the fair price of VND13,300 at the close. Other big deals were seen including: 2 million KDC shares and 1 million HVG shares changed hands.
In the related news, sell-off on the property sector is becoming center of trader’s talks, and the story is believed not to affect developers only but banks will also in trouble, worsening their health.
Back to the market, VN Index opened in the red with 1.3 million shares traded. Selling pressure was clear from the beginning, sending the index further in the negative ground before paring some loss at the close.
The focus of the market today was MBB performance on debut after 2 years of delay. MBB opened at VND14,500 or 5% higher than the initial price of VND13,800 but selling pressure rose gradually, sending it back to end the day unchanged at VND13,800 with 2,719,290 shares traded of which foreigners bought 78,000 shares.
Market breadth turned broadly negative, among 303 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 190-41 and 54 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 60 stocks fell to the floor while 10 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 8 lost (BVH, MSN, VCB, VIC, HAG, VPL, STB, CTG) , and 2 unchanged (VNM, EIB).
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) was the most active stock with 2.7 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND13,800.
Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC. (IJC) was in the second place with 1.8 million shares traded, closing down 4.4% to VND10,900.
Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) ranked third with 1.7 million shares traded, closing flat at VND12,700.
Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) stayed in the fourth place with 1.2 million shares traded, closing down 4.8% to VND10,000.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was the last in the most active list with 0.9 million shares traded, closing down 1.1% to VND18,300.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed down 1.69 points or 2.41% to 68.52. Trading volume fell 37.8% to 37.2 million shares traded for VND396 billion of which 1.8 million shares worth VND28.6 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was negative with 53 gainers,228 losers and 32 flat issues and 80 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 8 fell and 2 unchanged.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active stock with 5.4 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND11,500 on average.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) came second with 5.2 million shares traded, closing down 1.8% to VND11,100 on average.
Vietnam Construction And Import – Export Joint Stock Corporation (VCG) ranked third in the list with 2 million shares traded, closing down 3.7% to VND12,900 on average.
