Ho Chi Minh city is estimated to have lured a total of $638.5 million foreign direct investment (FDI) capital in the Jan-May 15th, 2012, the local news provider Gafin.vn reported, citing figure form the municipal statistics department.

Ho Chi Minh City’s consumer price index (CPI) in May 2012 is estimated to have increased by +0.06% from April, the municipal General Statistics Office (GSO) said.

Hanoi consumer price index (CPI) was estimated to have accelerated by +0.16% on-month in May 2012, driven by increase in prices of traffic and prices of other goods and services, the municipal General Statistics Office (GSO) said.

Total outstanding loans of commercial banks in Hanoi are estimated at VND598.071 trillion in May, up 0.98% on-month and rising 2.04% from late December last year, according to statistics from the municipal Statistics Office.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) may abolish both caps for deposit and lending interest rates in early June, the local media VnExpress.net quoted Tran Hoang Ngan, member of the National Advisory Council for Financial and Monetary Policies, as saying.
