Market breadth was positive with 216 gainers and 127 decliners. Trade volume totaled 212.7 million shares valued at VND3.96 trillion, edging up 3% in volume and 8% in value against the session earlier.
Of these, over 36.4 million shares were transacted in block deals, making up VND1.04 trillion of the total, including 10 million shares of property developer KOS.
In the VN30 basket, 15 stocks ended the session up, while eight others stayed at their reference prices.
The highlight of the southern bourse was construction stock CTD, skyrocketing by 6.9% at VND68,400 per share. Lenders BID and CTG were also among key market drivers, finishing the session up 3.9% and 3.7%, respectively.
Insurer BVH, gas firm GAS and construction enterprise ROS also contributed to the market rally, inching up over 1%.
Lender STB still took the lead on the southern exchange by liquidity with 15.5 million shares changing hands, followed by CTG with 9.5 million shares traded and lender MBB with 5.78 million shares transacted.
Many speculative stocks, including FLC, DLG, HQC, TCH, LDG, HAI and HHS, continued their upward trend.
Bao Viet Securities JSC said in its daily report that the VN-Index is likely to head toward the resistance zone of 898-905 points in next sessions. However, the market may experience strong fluctuations during its recovery.
At the close, the HNX-Index on the northern exchange advanced by 1.73%, or 1.91 points, to 112.58. There were over 78.3 million shares worth VND902.8 billion traded.
Lender SHB made a strong gain, ending the day up 7.6% while bank stocks ACB and NVB also performed well. SHB, ACB and NVB were the three most actively traded stocks on the Hanoi bourse.
Many speculative stocks such as ART, TIG, KLF and DST hit their ceiling prices at the close.
