The benchmark VN Index lost 4.51 points or 1.04% to 431.08. Volume rose 15.8% to 68.6 million shares worth of VND1.15 trillion. Put through trading contributed 29.7 million shares worth of VND615.82 billion.
Of note, we saw 3.33 million CTG shares changed hands at VND20,200 each; 15.23 million MBB shares changed hands at VND14,200 each and 3.14 million VCB shares changed hands at VND29,700 each, all big deals today were banking shares.
The market breadth changed negative on the primary bourse where 38 stocks advanced, 223 declined, 47 closed unchanged.
The VN30 fell 4.14 points or 0.81%, to 506.67. Amongst its 30 members, 4 stock rallied, 24 lost and 2 unchanged.
The market opened in the red with 1.3 million shares changed hands, caution rose. The trading pace was very slow as both two sides did not dare to make any big move. The sluggish trading went on the most of the trading time and selling pressure rose as market progressed. Money flows looked weak.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA), the most active stock on a trade of 2.11 million shares, shed 2.63% to end at VND7,400.
PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), coming second in liquidity with 1.5 million shares changed hands, dived 3.68% to settle at VND13,100.
Ocean Group (OGC) – a multi-business company – plunged 4.79% to finish at VND13,900 on a trade of 1.45million shares – the third most active.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX lost 0.82 point or 1.09% to 74.08. Trading volume fell 25.5% to 35.6 million shares worth VND371.8 billion.
The market breadth was negative where 52 rallied, 187 declined, 55 closed unmoved and the rest unchanged.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX), the most active on the measure with 5 million shares changed hands, closed flat at VND10,700.
VNDirect Securities (VND), coming second in liquidity on a trade of 4 million units, also ended unchanged at VND12,000 per share.
Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate Joint Stock Company (SCR) settled unmoved at VND15,000 on a trade of 2.8 million shares .
