The benchmark VN Index lost 2.33 points or 0.54% to 425.28. Volume fell 44.2% to 46.9 million shares worth of VND766.9 billion. Put through trading contributed 4.9 million shares worth of VND102.32 billion.
Of note, we saw 0.88 million SSI shares changed hands at VND21,600 each.
The market breadth remained broadly negative on the primary bourse where 73 stocks advanced, 162 declined, 73 closed unchanged.
The VN30 lost 3.95 points or 0.78%, to 500.24. Amongst its 30 members, 7 stock rallied, 19 lost and 4 unchanged.
The market opened in the red with 1.5 million shares changed hands. The trading pace was very slow at early trade as caution rose. The trading pattern kept unchanged for days with some buying efforts in late morning but rising selling pressure in the afternoon session. Market closed off the low, liquidity was draining.
Fourth largest listed lender Sacombank (STB), the most active stock on a trade of 5.4 million shares, dived 4.29% to end at VND22,300.
Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE), coming second in liquidity with 2.7 million shares changed hands, plunged 4.38% to settle at VND15,300.
Saigon Securities Incorporation (SSI) retreated 1.38% to finish at VND21,400 on a trade of 1.4 million shares – the third most active.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX fell 0.52 point or 0.7% to 74.24. Trading volume fell 4.4% to 36 million shares worth VND372.9 billion.
The market breadth turned negative where 84 rallied, 134 declined, 75 closed unmoved and the rest unchanged.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) was the most active on the measure with 5.4 million shares changed hands, closing flat at VND10,400.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) ranked third with 3.5 million shares changed hands, closing up 1.92% to VND5,100 per share.
VNDirect Securities (VND) came third in liquidity on a trade of 2.4 million units, falling 0.85% to settle at VND11,700 per share.
