The benchmark VN Index lost 0.55 point or 0.13% to 427.61. Volume rose 47.2% to 84.1 million shares worth of VND1.44 trillion thanks to heavy put-through deals which contributed 36.4 million shares worth VND785 billion.
Of note, we saw 14.83 million STB shares changed hands at VND25,000 each and 20 million EIB shares changed hands at VND17,300 each.
The market breadth remained broadly negative on the primary bourse where 96 stocks advanced, 143 declined, 69 closed unchanged.
The VN30 lost 2.3 points or 0.45%, to 504.19. Amongst its 30 members, 7 stock rallied, 14 lost and 9 unchanged.
The market opened in the green with 1.3 million shares changed hands. The trading pace was slow as caution rose. Though bottom fishing activities were seen but the selling pressure persisted market went in and out of the positive ground for several times before selling became more aggressive in the afternoon session and market closed at the low of the day.
Fourth largest listed lender Sacombank (STB), the most active stock on a trade of 4.7 million shares, plunged 4.9% to end at VND23,300.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA), coming second in liquidity with 3.4 million shares changed hands, dived 1.35% to settle at VND7,300.
Ocean Group (OGC) rallied 3.03% to finish at VND13,600 on a trade of 1.7 million shares – the third most active.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX bucked trend to close up 0.16 point or 0.21% to 74.76. Trading volume fell 13.4% to 37.6 million shares worth VND393.2 billion.
The market breadth turned positive where 116 rallied, 96 declined, 80 closed unmoved and the rest unchanged.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) was the most active on the measure with 6.9 million shares changed hands, closing down 0.95% to end at VND10,400.
VNDirect Securities (VND) came second in liquidity on a trade of 3.7 million units, adding 0.86% to settle at VND11,700 per share.
Vietnam Construction And Import – Export Joint Stock Corporation (VCG) ranked third with 2.1 milion shares changed hands, closing up 1.57% to VND12,900 per share.
