The benchmark VN Index lost 0.4 point or 0.09% to 432.5. Volume fell 17.55% to 68.1 million shares worth of VND1.18 trillion.
Put-through trading contributed 15.1 million shares worth VND362.1 billion. Of note, we saw super-large volume deals in the put through today including 11.15 million STB shares changed hands at VND25,000 ach. Other big put-through deal was 1.25 million GMD shares changed hands at the price of VND24,900 each .
The market breadth was, however, positive on the primary bourse where 136 stocks advanced, 103 declined, 69 closed unchanged.
The VN30 Index bucked the broader market trend, rising 1.84 points, or 0.36%, to 509.99. Amongst its 30 members, 18 stock rallied, 7 lost and 5 unchanged.
The market opened in the red with 2.1 million shares changed hands. The trading pace was slow, however, bottom fishing activities were seen and it pushed the market back into the black for most of the trading time before late selling, focusing on heavy weighs VCB, GAS, BVH, STB in the afternoon session erased all the bulls’ efforts and the market fell back in the negative territory again.
After recent foreign net-sell activities, buying energy seemed to focus on mid-caps and pennies, and high-beta stocks outperformed the market in general.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was the most active stock on a trade of 2.76 million shares, closing down 1.2% to end at VND24,800.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) ranked second in volume, with 2.1 million shares changed hands, closing up 0.92% at VND22,000 each.
Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was in the third position with 1.8 million shares traded, closing up 1.75% to VND5,800 each.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX climbed up 0.72 point or 0.96% to 75.8. Trading volume fell 16% to 60.4 million shares worth VND629.4 billion.
The market breadth was positive where 145 rallied, 89 declined, 65 closed unmoved and the rest unchanged.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) was the most active stock with 15.8 million shares changed hands, closing up 4.9% to VND10,800 each.
Vietnam Construction And Import – Export Joint Stock Corporation (VCG) was the second most active stock with 5 million shares changed hands, closing at the ceiling of VND12,800 each.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the third most active stock with 4.6 million shares changed hands, closing 1.7% to VND12,100 each.
