The benchmark VN Index lost 0.4 point or 0.09% to 428.8. Volume rose to 72.2 million shares worth of VND1.33 trillion mostly thanks to heavy put-through trading.
Put-through trading contributed 31.8 million shares worth VND770.98 billion. We saw 1 million CSG shares changed hands for VND10,300 each, 1.14 million HAG shares changed hands at VND26,700 each 1 million HSG shares changed hands at VND19,100 each and a further of 26.35 million STB shares changed hands at VND25,000 each.
The market breadth was negative on the primary bourse where 101 stocks advanced, 142 tumbled, 66 closed unchanged, and the rest were untraded.
The VN30 Index lost 1.42 points, or 0.28%, to 505.65 with 11 advancers, 13 decliners and 5 unchanged.
Market opened in the green as some bargain hunters came in, market got excited in the early trade but the selling pressure remained and trading went on in caution with slow pace. Selling pressure in the end, sent the index into the negative territory though the market closed off the lows.
Heavy weighs VCB, BVH and MSN were gainers, GAS stayed unchanged. Profit taking was seen in the mid-cap and pennies.
Mineral shares such as KSA, KSH, KSS, KTB outperformed, share prices hit the ceiling again.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX index added 0.29 point, or 0.39%, to end at 74.36. Market volume fell sharply to 29.86 million shares valued at VND293.72 billion.
The market breadth was positive 130 rallied, 87 tumbled, 80 closed unmoved, and the rest was untraded.
