Jan 16: Vietnam Stocks Gain Sixth Day on Improving Sentiment

The benchmark VN Index gained 3.54  points, or 0.99% to end at 357.87. Volume rose 33.3% to 29.4 million shares worth VND842.4 billion, including 9.1 million shares worth of VND571.4 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.

Once more, put through deals were active again with 5.1 million VIC shares changed hands, 0.79 million TCM shares changed hands today.

VN Index opened in the green with 0.7 million shares traded .Trading pace improved a bit and VN index heading to 360.  However, selling pressure also rose after  6 day gaining run, paring the market gain. Volume increased as a result. Though VN Index closed off the high, it was still higher then the open, buying intererest was steady.

Blue chips were  mostly gainers, CTG, DPM, FPT, HAG, HPG, ITA, KBC, MBB, MSN,  PVF, VCB were all advancers, market indicator stock SSI closed up and was active.

Property shares including DIG , DIC, NTL, ITC were ceiling gainers.

Market breadth was positive. Among 306 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 165-75 and 39 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 67 stocks closed at the ceiling price and 31 fell to the floor and 27 untraded.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI)) was the most active stock today, with 1.5million shares traded, closing up 2.9% to VND14,000.

Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) ranked second with 1.3 million shares traded, closing flat at VND17,700.  

Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) was in the third place with 0.9 million shares traded, closing up 3% to VND6,800.

Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC. (IJC) ranked forth with 0.7 million shares traded, closing up 2.4% to VND8,400.

Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB)  was in the fifth place with 0.6 million shares traded, closing up 2.6% to VND11,800.  

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.73 point or 1.3% to 57. Trading volume rose 28% to 25.8 million shares traded for VND194.4 billion of which 3.5 million shares worth VND46 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.  

Market breadth was positive with 168 gainers, 70 losers and 41 flat issues, 114 untraded. Among top 10 market cap, 8 gained, 1 lost, 1 unchanged.

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 3.1 million shares changed hands, closing up 5% to VND8,400 on average.

VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) ranked second in the list with 2.7 million shares traded, closing up 6.5% to VND6,600 on average.   

PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) came third with 1.8 million shares traded, closing up 3% to VND6,800 on average.
