The benchmark VN Index added 1.86 points, or 0.45% to end at 411.39. Volume continued to rise 15.5% to 51.5 million shares worth VND771.5 billion, including 10.3 million shares worth of VND187.6 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
VN Index opened in the green with 2.4 million shares traded .Selling pressure rose as traders decided to take profit after recent hefty rally, sending the market briefly into the negative ground in the continuous trading session. However, buying energy into blue chips was steady, pushing the market back to the positive ground. Though the market could not close at the high, it close marginally higher the previous intraday high of 411.38 logged on Feb 3, 2012.
Newly introduced VN30 rose 3.7 5points or 0.81% to 464.73 today. Volume was steady at 20.4 million worth of VND365.54 billion.
Market breadth turned negative. Among 306 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 128-105 and 73 stocks unchanged. As many as 38 stocks closed at the ceiling price and 31 fell to the floor.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) was the most active stock today, with 4.1 million shares traded, closing up 2.3% to VND13,400.
Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (EIB) ranked second with 4 million shares traded, closing up 1.2% to VND16,500.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was in the third place with 3.8 million shares traded, closing up 5% to VND21,100.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) ranked forth with 2 million shares traded closing flat at VND8,500
Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) was in the fifth place with 1.4 million shares traded, closing up 0.7% to VND14,200.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.08 point or 0.13% to 63.82. Trading volume rose 37.7% to 56.4 million shares traded for VND444.3 billion of which 2.8 million shares worth VND42 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth turned negative with 120 gainers, 200 losers and 73 flat issues, including 51 ceiling gainers and 28 floor decliners.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) suddenly gained the most active position with heavy volume of 9.2 million shares changed hands, closing up 6.4% to VND4,700 on average.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) ranked second in the list with 4.3 million shares traded, closing down 2.4% to VND8,100 on average.
Saigon – Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) came third with 4.3 million shares traded, closing up 5.6% to VND7,300 on average.
