The benchmark VN Index added 4.3 points, or 1.02% to end at 427.95. Volume fell 28.93% to 89.53 million shares worth VND1.53 trillion, including 30.55 million shares worth of VND629.14 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
Of note, 21.91 million STB shares were changed hands in the put through deals today for VND504 billion. Other big deals were seen with 1.5 million KTB shares changed hands and 3.1 million EIB changed hands at VND18,200 each.
VN Index opened in the green with nearly 3.27 million shares traded. The bulls and the bears were everywhere in the market and the trading remained exciting. The benchmark briefly entered the negative ground before rising sharply up on high demand. The bulls in these days always put a higher hand on the table and boosted the share prices higher. VN Index closed the day at the highest levels.
Heavy weighs BVH, MSN, EIB, hit the upper limit, other blue chips CTG, DPM, HAG, HPG, MBB, PVF, VCB, SSI were all gainers while VIC fell to the floor and STB lost ground.
VN30 gained 5.83 points or 1.2% to 491.01 today. Volume fell 21.6% to 22.34 million worth of VND479.9 billion.
The market breadth was positive. Among 308 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outpaced losers by 131-114 and 63 stocks unchanged of which 59 hit upper limit and 21 hit lower limit.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) continued to be the most active stock today with 11.64 million shares traded, closing up 4.2% to VND14,900.
Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (EIB) ranked second with 4.1 million shares traded, closing up 4.5% to VND18,700.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was in the third place with 3.15 million shares traded, closing down 2.2% to VND22,000.
Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) and Bac Giang Exploitable Mineral JSC. (BGM) followed with 2.9 million shares and1.1 million shares, respectively.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.9 point or 1.29% to 69.58. Trading volume fell 23.8% to 64.34 million shares traded for VND587.38 billion of which only1.47 million shares worth VND34.3 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was narrowly positive with 164 gainers, 161 losers and 70 flat issues of which 65 hit upper limits and 24 limited down.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) continued to led the market in volume with 10.4 million shares changed hands, closing up 5.3% to VND6,000.
Saigon – Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) ranked second with 5.8 million shares traded, closing up 5.9% to VND9,000 each.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) was in the third place with 4.8 million shares changed hands, closing flat at VND9,500.
