The benchmark VN Index fell 2.85 points, or 0.71% to end at 397.41. Volume rose 25.5% to 45.8 million shares worth VND791.6 billion, including 16.7 million shares worth of VND416.5 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
Put-through trading was active again today, including 9.3 million KBC shares changed hands, 1.5 million MAFPF1 shares changed hands and 1.9 million VIC shares traded.
VN Index opened in the red with 2.2 million shares traded, selling pressure increased. Market went deeper in the negative territory as it entered the continuous trading session. The fall was fast and quite steep, however, it was clear that buying interest in the low price area was also strong, helping to par the market loss and VN Index closed off the low.
VN30 lost 4.14 points or 0.92% to 446.08 today. Volume fell by 3.5% to 12.5 million worth of VND209.6 billion.
Market breadth turned negative. Among 306 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 154-84 and 68 stocks unchanged. As many as 27 stocks closed at the ceiling price and 44 fell to the floor.
Bank stocks were very active again. Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (EIB) was the most active stock today, with 1.9 million shares traded, closing down 0.7% to VND15,500.
Petrovietnam – Idico Long Son Industrial Park Investment JSC. (PXL) ranked second with 1.8 million shares traded, closing up 2.7% to VND3,800.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) was in the third place with 1.45 million shares traded, closing flat at VND8,100.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed down 1.33 points or 2.16% to 60.21. Trading volume eased 0.2% to 35.9 million shares traded for VND309.8 billion of which 2.75 million shares worth VND72.3 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was still negative with 87 gainers, 245 losers and 62 flat issues, including 31 ceiling gainers and 46 floor decliners.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) was the most active position with 4.1 million shares changed hands, closing down 6.3% to VND4,800 on average.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) ranked second in the list with 3.2 million shares traded, closing down 1.1% to VND9,000 on average.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) came third with 3.2 million shares traded, closing down 2.7% to VND7,500 on average.
