The benchmark VN Index lost 4.47 points, or 1.17% to end at 377.16. Volume fell 23.8% to 31.8 million shares worth VND438.8 billion including 5 million shares worth VND82.3 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
For the week, VN Index lost 6.72 points or 1.75% this week, extending year-to-date loss to 107.5 points or 22.18%.
VN Index opened in the red with 1 million shares traded. Market traded in caution, sellers lost control first and accepted to sell shares at a discount. Thought the market pared some loss in the last 15 minutes of ATC session, the loss was still remarkable. Property shares led the market down.
Market breadth was negative among 306 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 15-63 and 63 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 26 stocks hit ceiling while 58 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 2 rose (STB, EIB), 7 fell (HAG, MSN, VCB, BVH, VPL, CTG, VIC) and 1 unchanged (VNM).
In separate stocks, market leading hot issue, securities stock SSI, continued to post loss though it closed off the low.
Meanwhile developer SJS fell to the floor after hitting ceiling prices for 6 consecutive days. Other property stocks such as NTL, ITC also hit the floor, while other names, HAG, VIC, DIC, DIG also post loss. DXG bucked trend to hit the ceiling after a long string of down-limit close.
In terms of activeness, Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) led the market in volume with 1.5 million shares traded, closing down 4.4% to VND8,600.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Corporation (HAG) was second most active stock with 1.2 million shares trade, closing down 3.5% to VND22,000.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was in the third place with 1.1 million shares traded, closing up 0.7% to VND14,100.
Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) ranked forth with 1 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND6,600.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was in the fifth place with 1 million shares traded, closing down 1.8% to VND16,300.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed down 0.86 point or 1.37% to 61.73. Trading volume edged up 2.9% to 26 million shares traded for VND248.5 billion of which 2.3 million shares worth VND34.2 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
For the week, HNX- Index bucked trend to post a small gain of 0.05 point or 0.08% this week, trimming year-to-date loss to 52.51 points or 45.96%.
Market breadth was negative with 71 gainers, 178 losers and 46 flat issues and 98 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 4 gained, and 6 lost.
Of note, share prices of Orient Securities Corporation (ORS) continued to fall VND100 to VND2,200/share while share prices of Thai Hoa Viet Nam Group JSC (THV) closed at the floor of VND4,300 with 1.7 million unfilled offer at the floor price.
High liquid and speculative shares KLS, VND, PVX, VCG, SHN were all losers.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 3.9 million shares changed hands, closing down 2.9% to VND10,100.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) ranked second in the list with 2.4 million shares traded, closing down 3.8% to VND10,200 on average.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) came third with 2 million shares traded, closing down 3.3% to VND8,700 on average.
