The benchmark VN Index lost 5.58 points, or 1.44% to end at 381.63. Volume soared 35.1% to 41.7 million shares worth VND629.5 billion including nearly 17 million shares worth VND289.2 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
We saw 8.3 million STB shares, 4.1 million HAG shares, 1 million ITA shares and 1.2 million SJS shares changed hands in the put-through deals today.
VN Index opened in the red with 1.2 million shares traded. Market traded in caution, sellers lost control first and accepted to sell shares at a discount. The loss deepened towards the end of the trading session, especially in the last 15 minutes of ATC session, sending the index close at the low of the day.
Market breadth was negative among 306 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 142-85 and 56 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 26 stocks hit ceiling while 44 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 2 rose (EIB, STB), 7 fell (HAG, MSN, VCB, BVH, VPL, CTG, VIC) and 1 unchanged (VNM).
In separate stocks, market leading hot issue, securities stock SSI, continued to post loss, closing at the low of the day while developer SJS hit the ceiling again. Of note, 1.2 million SJS shares were changed hands in the put-through at VND20,000 each, lower than the market close of VND21,500.
In terms of activeness, Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) led the market in volume with 1.3 million shares traded, closing down 3.2% to VND9,000.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was second most active stock with 1.2 million shares trade, closing up 0.7% to VND14,000.
Licogi 16 JSC. (LCG) ranked third with 0.9 million shares traded, closing up 1.9% to VND11,000.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) took the fourth position with 0.9 million shares changed hands, closing down 1.2% to VND7,800.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Corporation (HAG) was in the fifth place with 0.9 million shares traded, closing down 4.2% to VND22,800.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX bucked trend to close up 0.08 point or 0.13% to 62.59. Trading volume fell 3.3% to 25.3 million shares traded for VND238.5 billion of which 1.7 million shares worth VND23.5 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
However, the market rally was attributed by heavy weigh ACB which closed up VND500 to VND20,600 at the close.
Market breadth was still negative with 72 gainers, 130 losers and 68 flat issues and 123 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 2 gained, 3 unchanged and 5 lost.
Of note, share prices of Orient Securities Corporation (ORS) continued to fall VND100 to VND2,300/share while share prices of Thai Hoa Viet Nam Group JSC (THV) closed at the floor to VND4,600 after 3 day ceiling run. Outstanding offers were nearly 1 million shares at the down limit after the news that the chairman postponed his plan to buy 6.1 THV shares.
High liquid and speculative shares KLS, VND, PVX, VCG, were all losers.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 3.4 million shares changed hands, closing down 1.9% to VND10,400.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) ranked second in the list with 3.3 million shares traded, closing down 0.9% to VND10,600 on average.
Vietnam Construction And Import – Export Joint Stock Corporation (VCG)came third with 1.6 million shares traded, closing down 1% to VND10,400 on average. Foreigners continued to net sell this developer.
