The benchmark VN Index gained 3.78 points, or 1% to end at 383.9. Volume rose 18.4% to 25.1 million shares worth VND418.9 billion including 5.3 million shares worth VND139.7 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
VN Index opened in the green with 0.77 million shares traded. The trading was more active in the continuous session and the market gradually climbed higher as it progressed. Market closed at the high of the day.
Market breadth was positive, among 306 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 142-75 and 73 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 30 stocks hit ceiling while 37 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 8 rose (VIC, HAG, MSN, VPL, CTG, EIB, VCB, BVH),1 fell (STB) and 1 unchanged (VNM).
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) led the market in volume with 1.6 million shares traded, closing down 3.47% to VND13,900.
Vinh Son – Song Hinh Hydropower Jsc. (VSH) was second most active stock with 1 million shares trade, closing up 1.9% to VND11,000.
Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) ranked third with 1 million shares traded, closing up 4.7% to VND9,000.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Corporation (HAG) came forth with 0.9 million shares traded, closing up 3.6% to VND23,000.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was in the fifth place with 0.6 million shares traded, closing up 1.9% to VND16,500.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.5 point or 0.82% to 61.68. Trading volume rose 10.2% to 21.5 million shares traded for VND187.4 billion of which 2.2 million shares worth VND23.7 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was positive with 130 gainers, 93 losers and 79 flat issues and 91 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 5 gained, 4 unchanged and 1 lost.
Of note, after AGM’s approval to delist on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, share prices of Orient Securities Corporation (ORS) closed at the floor for a second straight day today to VND2,700 while Thai Hoa Viet Nam Group JSC (THV) rose to the ceiling of VND4,300 again with over 1 million shares waiting to be filled.
High liquid and speculative shares KLS, VND, PVX, were all gainers.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 3.1 million shares changed hands, closing up 1% to VND10,100.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) came second with 2.9 million shares traded, closing up 1% to VND10,200 on average.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) ranked third in the list with 1.5 million shares traded, closing up 1.2% to VND8,600 on average.
