The benchmark VN Index gained 1.37 points, or 0.37% to end at 367.4. Volume fell 42.9% to 37.3 million shares worth VND613.5 billion including 16.3 million shares worth VND314.7 billion changed hands in the put-through deals. We saw 10.8 million STB shares changed hands at VND14,100 each.
VN Index opened in the red with 0.7 million shares traded as caution rose. Market went on in caution note, some tug-of-war was seen and liquidity fell. A strong buying interest into bank shares VCB, CTG and heavy weighs BVH, MSN calmed the selling pressure, and send index back to the positive ground in the last 15 minutes of ATC session.
Market breadth was, however, negative. Among 307 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 126-92 and 68 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 28 stocks hit ceiling while 57 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 8 rose (VNM, CTG, VCB, HAG, STB, BVH, VPL and EIB), and 2 fell (STB and VIC). Two bank shares CTG, VCB hit the ceiling.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) became the most active stock on the bourse today with 1.3 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND7,500.
Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) ranked second with 1.2 million shares traded, closing up 1.1% to VND9,000.
Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam or Vietcombank (VCB) was in the third place with 0.9 million shares traded, closing up 4.8% to VND22,000.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Corporation (HAG) ranked forth with 0.8 million shares traded, closing up 0.5% to VND22,300.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was in the fifth place with 0.8 million shares traded, closing down 0.7% to VND14,700.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.36 point or 0.6% to 60.19. Trading volume fell 10.4% to 26.6 million shares traded for VND230.2 billion of which 6.7 million shares worth VND60.9 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was negative with 91 gainers, 114 losers and 73 flat issues and 115 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 3 gained, 2 fell and 5 unchanged.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active stock with 2.9 million shares changed hands, closing down 3.2% to VND9,000.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) ranked second in the list with 1.8 million shares traded, closing down 1.1% to VND9,400 on average.
Vietnam Construction And Import – Export Joint Stock Corporation (VCG) came third with 1.5 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND9,300 on average.
