• Public Debt Fears Watered Down
  Vietnam’s public debt could reach 58.4 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) against 54.6 per cent in 2011.

• Vietnam Central Bank Prescribes Regulations on Independent Audit For Credit Institutions
  The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on December 15, 2011 issued Circular 39/2011/TT-NHNN, effective on Jan 1, 2012, prescribing regulations on independent audit for local credit institutions and branches of foreign banks.

• MoF to Publicize Price Petroleum Investigation Results On Dec 19
  The Ministry of Finance (MoF) will publicize the investigation results of import prices of petroleum at the gas and oil hubs on December 19, according to the local News provider Gafin.

• Vietnam to Deal with All Weak Banks in 2012
  Vietnam will deal with all weak banks in 2012, the local online newspaper VnEconomy.vn quoted Nguyen Van Binh, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), as saying at the talk-show “Economic Restructuring” on Dec 16.

• Vietnam Central Bank Net Injects VND11.5Tln on OMO in Week Ending Dec 16
  The State Bank of Vietnam, the country’s central bank, net pumped VND11.539 trillion on open market operations from Dec 12 to Dec 16.

• Vietnam Bonds Decline on Speculation Bank Demand Low; Dong Gains
  Vietnam’s government bonds declined on speculation demand from banks is dropping as the end of the year approaches. The dong strengthened.

• Vietnam SSC to Submit to Prime Minister Plan to Restructure Stock Market in December
  The Plan to restructure the local stock market will be submitted to the Prime Minister within December, the local online newspaper VnEconomy.vn quoted Nguyen Doan Hung, deputy chairman of State Securities Commission (SSC), as saying.
