Dec 16: Vietnam Stocks Rebounds on Bottom Fishing, Liquidity Surges

The benchmark VN Index gained 1.55 points, or 0.42% to end at 366.03. Volume rose 61.3% to 65.3 million shares worth VND972.2 billion including 33.5 million shares worth VND42.82 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.


Put-through deals were very active today, we saw 10.64 million SSI at VND15,000 each,  9.59 million SBS shares changed hands at VND3,800 each, 5.1 million STB shares changed hands at VND15,100 ech, 1 million HAG shares and 1 million MCG shares changed hands in the arranged deals today.


VN Index opened in the red with 1 million shares traded. However, buying interest rose as investors picked bottom, sending the index to the positive ground. More and more stocks hit the ceiling and at a time VN Index roared to 369.65, still shy of 370 threshold before easing back as heavy weigh MSN, VIC were sold aggressively. VN Index closed off the high.


 


Market breadth turned positive, among 307 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 181-73 and 52 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 73 stocks hit ceiling while 28 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.


Among top 10 market caps, 5 rose (VNM, CTG, VCB, HAG and EIB), 2 fell (MSN, and VIC) and 3 unchanged (STB, BVH, VPL)


Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) became the most active stock on the bourse today with 2.3 million shares traded, closing up 4.7% to VND8,900.


Investment and Trading of Real Estate JSC. (ITC) ranked second with 1.5 million shares traded, closing up 4.2% to VND7,500.


Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank  or Sacombank (STB) was in the third place with 1.5 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND14,800.


PetroVietnam Finance Joint Stock Corporation (PVF) ranked forth with 1.2 million shares traded, closing up 4.6% to VND9,200.


Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was in the fifth place with 1.1 million shares traded, closing down 1.5% to VND6,600.


On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.93 point or 1.58% to 59.8. Trading volume fell 23.1% to 29.7 million shares traded for VND254.6 billion of which 5.5 million shares worth VND54 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.


Market breadth was negative with 192 gainers, 58 losers and 37 flat issues and 106 untraded. All top 10 market caps gained.


VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active stock with 3.2 million shares changed hands, closing up 3.3% to VND9,300.


Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) ranked second in the list with 2.8 million shares traded, closing up 3.3% to VND9,500 on average.


PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) came third with 1.8 million shares traded, losing up 5.3% to VND7,900 on average.
