The benchmark VN Index lost 3.55 points, or 0.94% to end at 371.75. Volume fell 8.2% to 34.6 million shares worth VND534.8 billion including 10.5 million shares worth VND205.9 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.
Put-through deals were active again, we saw 4 million STB shares changed hands, 1 million EIB shares changed hands and 1 million HBC traded in the arranged deals today.
VN Index opened in the red with 1.8 million shares traded as selling pressure rose. Market traded in caution and went steadily to the south, closing at the low of the day.
Market breadth was negative among 307 listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 146-84 and 54 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 28 stocks hit ceiling while 56 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 2 rose (EIB and VIC), 4 fell ( MSN, BVH, CTG, and VNM) and 4 unchanged (STB, VCB, HAG, VPL).
Of note, foreigners were major contributors to boost two property shares VIC and KBC buck the trend, VIC hit the ceiling while KBC closed 2 lines near the ceiling prices. Other property shares were beaten hard, SJS, DXG, DIG, D2D were among those who closed at the floor.
Market leading hot issue, securities stock SSI, continued to post loss, breaking down VND16,000 threshold.
Stock of lender Vietinbank (CTG) closed down sharply today, and at a time during the trading, shareprices hit the floor, trading volume rose to 765,880 shares.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) kept being the most active stock on the bourse today with 1.5 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VNd14,800.
Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) was second most active stock with 0.9 million shares trade, closing down 0.9% to VND11,500.
Development Investment Construction Joint Stock Corporation (DIG) was in the third place with 0.9 million shares traded, closing down 4.2% to VND11,400.
Vietnam JS Bank for Industry and Trade or VietinBank (CTG) ranked forth with 0.8 million shares traded, closing down 4.4% to VND17,300.
Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC. (IJC) was in the fifth place with 0.7 million shares traded, closing down 2.2% to VND9,100.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed down 0.74 point or 1.2% to 60.62. Trading volume fell 5.1% to 24.8 million shares traded for VND204.7 billion of which 2.8 million shares worth VND35.7 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was negative with 50 gainers, 157 losers and 78 flat issues and 108 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 4 unchanged and 6 lost.
Orient Securities Corporation (ORS) suddendly led the market in volume with 1.8 million shares trade, closing down 4.8% to VND2,000/share.
High liquid and speculative shares VND, PVX, VCG, SHN were all losers except for KLS.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the second most active stock with 1.7 million shares changed hands, closing down 2.0% to VND9,800.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) ranked third in the list with 1.7 million shares traded, closing down 5.9% to VND4,800 on average.
