VN Index opened in the red with 1 million shares traded. Trading was in caution, demand was still weak. Though market closed off the low, it was still in the negative ground.
The State Bank of Vietnam later today denied the rumor that ceiling deposit interest rate will be cut, saying that the current level of 4%is “reasonable” now.
Market breadth was positive, among 306 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 120-89 and 73 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 35 stocks hit ceiling while 35 issues fell to the floor, 5% each side.
Among top 10 market caps, 1 rose (VIC), 4 fell (CTG, EIB, MSN, HAG) and 5 unchanged (STB, BVH, VNM, MSN, VPL).
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) led the market in volume with 2.4 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND14,400.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) was second most active stock with 0.9 million shares trade, closing up 1.6% to VND12,700.
Ocean Group JSC. (OGC) ranked third with 0.9 million shares traded, closing up 4.9% to VND8,600.
Vinh Son – Song Hinh Hydropower Jsc. (VSH) came forth with 0.7 million shares traded, closing up 2.9% to VND10,800.
Thuan Thao Corporation (GTT) was in the fifth place with 0.63 million shares traded, closing down 1.8% to VND5,900.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.71 point or 1.17% to 61.18. Trading volume fell 28.2% to 21.6 million shares traded for VND199.2 billion of which 2 million shares worth VND27.4 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was positive with 128 gainers, 85 losers and 75 flat issues and 105 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 5 gained and 2 lost and 3 unchanged.
High liquid and speculative shares KLS, VND, VCG were all losers.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active stock with 2.3 million shares changed hands, closing up 2% to VND10,100.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) came second with 2.3 million shares traded, closing up 1% to VND10,000 on average.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) ranked third in the list with 1.4 million shares traded closing unchanged at VND8,500 on average.
