Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology Phạm Ngọc Sinh announced the event at a press conference on Tuesday.
Sinh said it’s the first time the province will host a national level event in science and technology with the participation of delegates from 15 cities and provinces in the central and central highlands region and Hà Nội and HCM city.
Sinh said Quảng Nam TechFest will include forums on intellectual property ownership with technology innovation and start-ups; smart tourism; technological applications in production; start-up initiatives among high-school students; co-operatives development and value chains and women with innovative start-ups.
He said an exhibition on scientific research from provinces and cities will be held at the Quảng Nam University during the event.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, there are currently more than 3,000 start-ups in Việt Nam.
The central province, in co-operation with the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (National Research University), plans to build a high-tech institute, spread across 100ha in coastal Tam Thanh Commune, 8km from the provincial capital, Tam Kỳ City to boost scientific research and applications for new technologies in industries in central Việt Nam.
