Many investors cannot withdraw money from stock brokers.

Vietnamese stocks kicked off the new week in the green as bottom fishers continued to push prices higher, but liquidity fell on caution as average electricity price was allowed to rise 5% from tomorrow December 20, 2011.

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose on second day, led by banking shares on December 19, after Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told banks last weekend to lower lending rates next year to support economic growth.

Shares of the following companies had unusual (VNINDEX) moves in Vietnam trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close.

Vinh Son-Song Hinh Hydropower (VSH.VN), Vietnam's 3rd largest energy company by market capitalisation, hit a 52-week low of VND7,900.0 during the day. In the last three months the stock has hit a new 52-week low once.

Vietnam has a high volume of registered foreign direct investment (FDI) capital but the disbursement pace remains weak due to the country’s low capital absorbing capacity.

Foreigners continued to be net buyers on both HOSE and HNX on Friday. Trading volume surged for a fifth consecutive day.

The UPCoM-Index, the measure of 127 unlisted public companies, closed down on Friday following the official bourses.

Vietnamese stocks ended its losing streak today as investors jumped in to bottom fish when the VN Index approached 360 threshold after 8 losing sessions.
