The benchmark VN Index gave up 1.9 points or 0.4% to 463.27. Volume fell to 46.4 million shares worth of VND716 billion. Put-through trading contributed 3.3 million shares worth VND106.52 billion. We saw 2.2 million KDC shares changed hands at VND40,500 each, lower than the current market price of VND42,100 each.
The market breadth was flat on the primary bourse where 129 stocks advanced, 128 tumbled, 53 closed unchanged of which 39 hit the ceiling, 23 limited down.
The VN30 Index lost 1.44 points, or 0.27%, to 532.16.
The market opened in the green with 3.1 million shares changed hands. However, profit takers sold into the high, and the losses of heavy weighs sent the index back to the negative grounds. The trading pace was slow overall as both buyers and sellers were more cautious. The market closed the morning session in the red, it was but off the low and blue chips were on their way back to the surface.
SAM was the most active stock with 2.2 million shares, extending gain to VND8,800. VNE came second in volume with 1.8 million shares traded, limiting up. MBB took the third position with 1.4 million shares traded, closing unchanged.
Banking shares were weak CTG, STB VCB, EIB were losers while MBB stayed at the neutral line.
Securities shares were also laggards, SBS limited down with heavy offers, SSI, AGR fell while HCM, BSI stayed at the neutral line.
Property stocks were strong in general, DIC, DIG, NTL, HAG, ITC, TDH were among gainers.
Rubber and mineral shares were solid gainers.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX index lost 0.35 point or 0.45% to 77.46. Trading volume improved a bit to 38.2 million shares worth VND425.75 billion.
The market breadth was negative on the northern exchange. Among index members, 98 rallied, 212 tumbled, 86 closed unmoved of which 25 limited up, 23 limited down.
PVX was the top active player with 3.4 million shares changed hands, closing at the midpoint; SCR came second with 3.2 million shares traded, limiting up and HBB took the third position with 3.1 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND6,700 each.
