The benchmark VN Index added 2.68 points or 0.57% to 475.52, off the high but still higher than the open. Volume rose to 102 million shares worth of VND1.73 trillion. Put-through trading contributed 21.9 million shares worth VND543.1 billion.
We saw another 20 million STB shares changed hands at the price of VN25,000 each, versus the market close price of VND25,700 each.
VN30 was weaker than the broader market, posting a gain of 2.76 points or 0.51% to close at 546.89. Volume rose to 5.62 million shares changed hands for VND539.4 billion.
Market opened the morning session in the green with 8 million shares changed hands. Then, the selling pressure rose as market entered continuous order bidding session, paring the early gain. However, buying interest was firm to keep the market heat, and closed the morning session off the high but still higher than the open.
The market breadth was positive on the primary bourse where 143 stocks advanced, 116 fell, 51 closed unchanged of which 76 hit the ceiling , 11 limited down.
Securities stocks posted gain but with less strength today, SBS and BSI limited up while SSI, HCM, AGR rose slightly.
Property shares were mixed NTL, TDH, KBC, continued to limit up while SJS limited down, DIG, ITA stayed at the flat line.
Mineral and rubber stocks were also strong, most closed at the ceiling prices.
Banking stocks were split, CTG, MBB closed at the neutral line, EIB fell while STB, VCB gained.
The most active stock today was MBB with 3.8 million shares changed hands SAM came second with 3.7 million shares, EIB with 3 million shares.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX index regained 80 threshold with a gain of 0.16 point or 0.2% to 80.07. Trading volume rose to 65.7 million shares worth VND726.2 billion.
The market breadth was still negative on the northern exchange with 137 stocks up, 184 stocks down 75 closed unmoved.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) regained its most active position with 7.2 million shares traded, PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) came second with 4.1 million shares, and VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) ranked third with 3.3 million shares traded.
