The benchmark VN Index fell 2.71 points or 0.58% to 462.52. Volume rose 14.5% to 122 million shares worth of VND1.8 trillion. Put-through trading contributed 3.5 million shares worth VND168.68 billion.
We saw 0.4 million HAG shares changed hand s at the floor price of VN29,800 each, versus the market current price of VND30,700 each, 1.1 million VIC shares changed hands at the flat line of VND
VN30 continued to be weaker than the broader market, posting a loss of 4.98 points or 0.93% to close at 532.3. Volume rose to 39.33 million shares changed hands for VND768.62 billion.
Market opened the morning session in the green with 5.8 million shares changed hands. Buying interest looked firm but selling pressure at high prices were also strong, bulls and bears were everywhere, trading was exciting and both sides tried to show much conviction today. The index was in and out of the positive territory for several times before ending the morning session in the green.
The market resumed the afternoon session in a fast trading mode where sellers were more aggressive but no sell-off were seen. The efforts of both bulls and bears boosted market liquidity to new high, and the market was decided by supply-demand relation rather than sentiment or rumor driven as usual.
The market breadth was negative on the primary bourse where 103 stocks advanced, 139 fell, 68 closed unchanged of which 37 limited up, 38 limited down.
Securities stocks were struggling so hard SSI, HCM edged down today but SSI managed to sustain VND21,000 threshold, but still kept being shy of 52 week high at VND21, 600. SBS rebounded again from a floor performance yesterday, selling pressure looked draining in this stock.
Profit taking was seen in property shares, but this meant higher liquidity as buying was steady, and share prices ended mixed. Some property stocks were still so strong, including NTL, DXG limited up despite selling pressure, DIG, SJS, TDH gained, ITC, ITA stayed at the neutral line while HAG, KBC were among losers.
Banking stocks were weak in general, CTG, EIB, MBB, STB fell, while VCB gained. Of note, VCB looked rather strong and firm after breaking its 52 week high yesterday.
Notable performance included SAM whose share prices stood still at the ceiling for a 5th straight day with 4.8 million shares changed hands, being the second most active player on the bourse this morning.
The most active stock today was ITA with 6.9 million shares changed hands, closing at the flat line. Other active players included LCG with 4.4 million shares, closing up, SSI with 4.3 million shares, edging down and ITC with 4.2 million shares, closing flat.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX index lost 0.16 point, or 0.2%, to end at 78.38. Trading volume fell 14.1% to 104.6 million shares worth VND1.06 trillion, but still at high level.
The market breadth was negative on the northern exchange with 65 stocks up, 281 stocks down 50 closed unmoved of which 22 limited up, 46 limited down.
Hanoi-based lender Habubank (HBB), the most active on the measure with 10.5 million shares changed hands, closed down at VND7,100.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) coming second in liquidity on a trade of 9.1 million units, closing up at VN13,200.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) closed up VND400 to VND12,900 on a trade of 6.4 million shares, being the third most active player.
Profit taking was seen in property shares and money flows were back to securities shares today.
