The benchmark VN Index gained 1.05 points or 0.22% to 466.31. Volume rose to 91.3 million shares worth of VND1.27 trillion. Put-through trading contributed 1.6 million shares worth VND45.94 billion.
We saw 0.4 million HAG shares changed hand s at the floor price of VN29,800 each, versus the market current price of VND31,100 each.
VN30, in a strange move, was weaker than the broader market, posting a loss of 0.13 point or 0.02% to close at 537.15. Volume was 27.9 million shares changed hands for VND535.3 billion.
Market opened the morning session in the green with 5.8 million shares changed hands. Buying interest looked firm but selling pressure at high prices were also strong, bulls and bears were everywhere, trading was exciting and both sides tried to show much conviction today. The index was in and out of the positive territory for several times before it could keep the green at the morning close, but market trimmed half of early gain.
The market breadth was negative on the primary bourse where 100 stocks advanced, 134 fell, 76 closed unchanged of which 36 limited up, 19 limited down.
Securities stocks were struggling so hard SSI, HCM edged up but still kept shy of today peak, SBS stayed in the ceiling price after posting a floor performance yesterday.
Profit taking was seen in property shares, but this meant higher liquidity only as buying was steady. However, some property stocks were still so strong, including NTL, DXG, ITC, and other continued to post gains.
Banking stocks were also mixed, CTG, STB fell, EIB, MBB stayed at the flat line, while VCB gained.
Notable performance included SAM whose share prices stood still at the ceiling for a 5th straight day with 4.5 million shares changed hands, being the second most active player on the bourse this morning.
The most active stock today was ITA with 5.5 million shares changed hands, closing up. Other active players included ITC with 3.2 million shares, SBS with 2.9 million shares, SSI with 2.8 million shares, all closed higher.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX , gained 0.07 point, or 0.08%, to end at 78.61. Trading volume rose to 68.5 million shares worth VND694.4 billion.
The market breadth was negative on the northern exchange with 85 stocks up, 253 stocks down 58 closed unmoved of which 21 limited up, 30 limited down.
Hanoi-based lender Habubank (HBB), the most active on the measure with 7.1 million shares changed hands, closed up at VND7,300.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) coming second in liquidity on a trade of 6.8 million units, closing up at VND13,200.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) closed up VND13,100 on a trade of 4.5 million shares – the third most active.
