The benchmark VN Index gained 3.54 points or 0.78% to 454.39. Volume rose to 64.4 million shares worth of VND1 trillion. Put-through trading contributed 9.3 million shares worth VND222.74 billion.
We saw 5.4 million STB shares changed hand s at VN23,600 each, much lower than market current price of VND24,900 each.
Other big put-through deals included 1 million AGR shares changed hands at neutral price of VND9,300 each.
, 0.6 million EIB shares changed hands at the ceiling price of VND18,700, higher than current market price of VND18,000.
VN30 was still stronger than the broader market, adding 4.57 points or 0.88% to close at 521.97. Volume was 16.5 million shares changed hands for VND368.92 billion.
Market opened the morning session in the green with 8 million shares changed hands as both buyers and sellers were there to take part in the market after SBV move. Buying interest looked firm but selling pressure at high prices were also strong, both sides tried to show much conviction today. There were two bull and two bear attempts today and although the market was still in the positive ground, at the morning close, it pared half of early gain.
The market breadth was positive on the primary bourse where 161 stocks advanced, 70 fell, 78 closed unchanged of which 54 limited up, 6 limited down.
Securities stocks mixed, SSI, HCM edged up but still kept shy of their recent highs, SBS stayed in the neutral line.
Property shares in general were stronger than the market, with a new regulation to support this sector. DIC, DXG, ITA, ITC, LCG, NTL were ceiling gainers, others posted gains.
Banking stocks were also mixed, CTG, VCB stayed at the flat line, MBB and EIB, STB, gained.
Notable performance included SAM whose share prices stood still at the ceiling with 3.8 million shares changed hands.
HPG suddenly rose to the ceiling after recent sideways movements, 1.7 million shares were changed hands today.
MBB came second in volume with 2.4 million shares traded. Other active players included EIB with 2.2 million shares, SBS with 2.1 million shares, LCG with 2 million shares.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX , regained 0.99 point, or 1.31%, to end at 76.4. Trading volume rose to 54.5 million shares worth VND539.86 billion.
The market breadth was positive on the northern exchange with 180 stocks up, 145 stocks down 71 closed unmoved of which 33 limited up, 15 limited down.
Hanoi-based lender Habubank (HBB), the most active on the measure with 5 million shares changed hands, closed up at VND11,700.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) coming second in liquidity on a trade of 8.8 million units, shed 4.65% to end at VND12,300 per share.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) closed up VND12,700 on a trade of 4.6 million shares – the third most active.
