The benchmark VN Index gained 0.12 point or 0.02% to 450.85. Volume rose 31.72% to 86.5 million shares worth of VND1.27 billion. Put-through trading contributed 7.3 million shares worth VND169.66 billion.
We saw 3 million EIB shares changed hand s at VN18,000 each, slightly higher than today’s market close, but is VND100 lower than the reference price.
Other big put-through deals included 0.8 million KDC, changed hands at neutral price, 0.68 million STB shares changed hands at VND24,800, higher than the market close and 0.6 million AGD changed hands at VND35,000 each.
VN30 was still stronger than the broader market, adding 1.76 points or 0.34% to close at 517.4. Volume was 27.7 million shares changed hands for VND571.92 billion.
Market opened the morning session in the green with 3.6 million shares changed hands as buying interest from last week expanded. However, profit takers were also ready to sell at high prices. The index fluctuated during the trading time. Sellers became more aggressive in the afternoon session and send key share prices off the highs which also serve as resistance. VN Index closed marginally in the positive territory on blue chips support.
The market breadth was positive on the primary bourse where 135 stocks advanced, 106 tumbled, 68 closed unchanged of which 44 limited up,14 limited down.
Securities stocks eased back, HCM posted slight gain, SBS came back to neutral line after hitting the ceiling during the day, while SSI closed down after failing to test VND21,000/share resistance.
Property shares in general were stronger than the market, though they closed mixed, DIC, DXG, ITA, SJS were gainers but HAG, DIG, NTL, and KBC fell.
Banking stocks were also mixed, CTG, MBB and EIB fell, while VCB, STB gained. Heavy weighs MSN gained but VIC and BVH fell.
Notable performance included SAM whose share prices stood still at the ceiling with 4.1 million shares changed hands, REE was the most active player with 5.6 million shares changed hands, closing up of off the ceiling. SSI closed sharply down on late selling after failing to test VND21,000 resistance though 3.1 million shares changed hands.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX , lost 0.87 points, or 2.13%, to end at 76.28. Trading volume rose 24.9% to 87.7 million shares worth VND868.4 billion.
The market breadth was negative on the northern exchange. Among index members, 94 rallied, 152 tumbled, 80 closed unmoved, and 70 were untraded.
Hanoi-based lender Habubank (HBB), the most active on the measure with 9.5 million shares changed hands, sank 2.86% to settle at VND6,800.
VNDirect Securities (VND), coming second in liquidity on a trade of 8.8 million units, shed 4.65% to end at VND12,300 per share.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) plunged 4.2% to finish at VND11,400 on a trade of 6.4 million shares – the third most active.
