Macro Economy

· Vietnam’s April CPI to Accelerate to 0.5-0.7%: BVSC
Bao Viet Securities Companies (BVSC) forecast Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) in April to accelerate to 0.5-0.7%, the local VPBanks Securities company reported in its website today.

· Vietnam Credit Growth Slides 0.4% in Q1/2012: SBV Governor
Vietnam’s credit growth only fell 0.4% in 3M/2012 from late December last year.

· Interbank Trading Dong +13%, Dollar +90% in Week Ending Apr 6
The total interbank trading value of the dong surged 13% to VND182.75 trillion from VND161.95 trillion in the week ending April 6 while that of the dollar soared 90% to VND175.32 trillion from VND91.92 trillion, said the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV).

· Vietnam Rate Cut Is Surprising, Says ANZ
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s announcement to slash key rates for the second time in less than a month was quite surprising, commented Australia and New Zealand Banking Corporation (ANZ).

· Lending Rates on OMO Ease to 12% p.a. from April 11
Lending interest rates on the open market operations (OMO) from yesterday [April 11] eased 1% to 12% per annum, following the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s decision to cut key rates for the second time in less than a month.

· Vietnam’s Rice Export Market Shows Positive Signs
Vietnam’s rice export market is signaling better signs whereby the rice and paddy price in Mekong Delta has increased rapidly and started rising slightly, Mr Pham Van Bay-Vice President of Vietnam Food Association (VFA) said on April 9.
