AB InBev’s beer production plant to use 100% solar energy by 2025

On Wednesday, AB InBev held a ceremony to launch its solar energy system at its plant at the Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park II in Binh Duong Province.

The solar system can produce 840,600kWh per year, thereby reducing by 15 to 20 per cent the company’s total electricity use and cutting about 580 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, Ho Linh Lan, a representative of AB InBev, said.

At a meeting with leaders of southern Binh Duong Province, John Hsu, president of Southeast Asia AB InBev, said the company wanted to cut its water use and use renewable energy, with the goal of using all green energy by 2025.

Tran Thanh Liem, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said InBev’s goal of increasing environmental responsibility while expanding manufacturing was in in line with the province’s development plans.

In May 2015, Anheuser – Busch InBev opened a brewery specialising in making Budweiser and Beck brands in Binh Duong Province. The brewery, which has a capacity of 100 million litres per year, is the first AB InBev brewery in Southeast Asia.
