Vietnamese stocks closed down for the day as traders took quick profit with “safety first” in mind amid lack of supportive news, sending the benchmark to end October in the red.

The UPCoM-Index, the measure of 127 unlisted public companies closed down today following the primary HOSE bourse.

Foreigners kicked off the week as net buyers on both HOSE and HNX bourses today, level of participation increased, especially in the HNX.

Vietnamese stocks closed mixed as bargain hunters picked up stocks on attractive prices, blue chip supported the prime market but sellers offloaded shares on the HNX. Liquidity fell to 2 months low as most investors are sitting on their hands.

Foreign investment funds believe that the Vietnamese stock market still won’t be able to attract foreign capital in the time to come, since investors have worry about the macro economy.

The State Securities Commission has published a list of 14 companies that have violated information disclosure requirements.

FDI in Vietnam is estimated to have reached nearly $11.3 billion as of October 20, equal to 78% of that in the same period last year.
